Spring and possible summer has shown up for us yoopers. We have been have a good start to the year on the inland lake fishing, and now its time to focus on catching Salmon and Lake Trout!

I got Quincy D in the water over Memorial weekend and got in a quick “shake down” cruise on Saturday. Hudson my nephew got to play captain, he might only be four but I think he has a future in boating!

Sunday was flat calm and sunny what a better idea the to run the boat a bit more. I went through all the fishing gear and making sure its ready and working properly. Fished for an hour mark a few fish in the upper part of the water¬†column but couldn’t get them to bite. I’m thinking a little too sunny and calm for how close to the surface they were.

The next run out was in the evening, things were looking better with a slight chop and a grayish tinted sky. We stuck close to the harbor wall with the idea that the east wind has been blowing bait to it for a few days. Lone and behold it paid off the Kings seemed to be hugging the bottom and could barley mark them on the graph. But when feeding time starts you got to be there and ready. This King fell for a R&R razor spoon seven feet off the bottom.
